What we do?
No matter if you intend to breastfeed or not, as soon as you birth your placenta, your body will be primed to produce breastmilk. Not huge volumes in the first 24 hours / days, but enough to suit babies needs in the first few days.
It sounds so simple and in most cases it is. However, breastfeeding is as hard as it is easy. We also forget that babies have an instinct to feed, but they need time to practice and lean how mum's body works. At the same time, mum needs time to work out babies cues, get comfortable with her new body and relax into feeding. All of this can take time and support.
The role of a breastfeeding counsellor is to help support the mother and baby sync together so that breastfeeding is comfortable, challenges are understood and supported. Information and support is always given practically and informatively. Best place to practice breastfeeding is at home and this is where a certified breastfeeding counsellor professional can help.
